3 Jan 2022 2:33 PM Telangana was restructured into 33 districts from 10. GO 317 was issued for reallocating employees among new districts. All state government employees above the rank of senior assistant were categorized as zonal and above. Teachers including school assistants were categorized as district cadre. As per their pay scales, school assistants should be in the zonal cadre. Teachers in each undivided district were asked to give options so as to allocate them among the new districts. Teachers were allotted respective districts based on seniority alone ignoring nativity. This triggered protests. About ten thousand teachers were relocated against their options. For instance, a junior teacher who is a native of Hanamkonda was sent to Bhupalpally, whereas a senior teacher native of Bhupalpally transferred to Hanamkonda. Teachers demand that nativity should be the criteria for allocating the district. Jobs for natives were the basis of the Telangana movement. As per GO 610 in united Andhra Pradesh, thousands of teachers were shifted from one district to the other within the Telangana region also on the ground that they are not the natives of that particular district.
