Hyderabad to be Mapped like Never Before

 

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is conducting a Comprehensive Integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) survey to Map all Properties and Utilities within its jurisdiction.

 

Aerial Surveys using drones and door-to-door mapping to capture information for each parcel, with geolocation data collected by on-ground surveyors are being taken up.

GHMC Commissioner Amrapali said 

A unique identification number, also known as a Digital Address, will be generated for each property. This ID will help pinpoint properties for delivery of services like garbage collection and emergency management. 

 

The city will have a clear map showing all buildings, roads, and utilities like water and electricity. This will help the government plan for the future.

The city can track where things like streetlights and pipes are, making it easier to fix them when needed.

 Companies providing electricity, water, or gas can find your house easily for new connections or repairs.

o You can use your phone to find addresses more accurately, which helps when traveling around the city.

Additionally, GHMC will be collaborating with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) to accelerate the survey efforts and ensure thorough coverage. 

Current Status of the Project

 

• Drone Survey is completed in 158 Sq Kms so far within GHMC limits .

• 1,14,020 plots have been digitised so far.

• Survey Commenced in the below areas presently 

i. Hydernagar

ii. Miyapur

iii. Chandanagar

iv. KPHB Colony

v. Uppal and 

vi. Hayath Nagar 

(Covering 5 GHMC circles viz. Kukatpally, Moosapet, Chandanagar, Uppal and Hayath Nagar)

• Further below areasare digitised and are ready for survey 

i. Madhapur

ii. Serilingampally

iii. Allwyn Colony

iv. Vivekananda Nagar Colony

v. Gajularamaram

vi. Subhash Nagar

vii. Nagole

viii. RC Puram

(Covering additionally Serilingampally, Gajularamaram and RC Puram Circles)
