MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy Responds to Demolition Threats Over Farmhouse Allegations

Will it be demolished or not?

MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy Responds to Demolition Threats Over Farmhouse Allegations

Patnam Mahender Reddy, a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), has reacted to the allegations regarding the legality of his farmhouse, which is located near the Twin Reservoirs, an area restricted under Government Order 111 (GO 111). Responding to recent demolition threats and accusations of illegal construction, Reddy asserted that his property complies with existing regulations.

Reddy explained that his farmhouse was built with proper permissions, noting that GO 111 allows for up to 10 percent of the area to be used for construction purposes. He emphasized that his farmhouse adheres to these guidelines, stating, “I am not the only one to have a farmhouse within the GO 111 restricted area. However, there are many prominent leaders with much larger properties”

The MLC further highlighted that several influential political figures, including ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs), also own farmhouses in the vicinity. “Compared to their farmhouses, mine is very small,” Reddy remarked, pointing out that his property is modest in comparison to others in the area.

The MLC quit BRS in Feb 2024 and joined congress.

The controversy surrounding farmhouses in the GO 111 area has been a topic of heated debate, with environmental concerns and legal questions at the forefront.
