Name trouble for Konda

Duplicate Names Stir Ballot Confusion in several other parliament constituencies in Telangana.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, the BJP candidate for the Chevella Loksabha constituency, approached the High Court alleging that the Election Commission of Inda failed to address his concern about another candidate with the same name, causing voter confusion. The other Konda Vishveshwar Reddy, is listed as an independent candidate on the ballot paper. The BJP candidate asked EC to separate their names by at least ten other candidates on the ballot to avoid mix-ups. However, the ECI stated that current rules do not allow for such changes at this stage. The HC has deferred the decision back to the EC.

Similar issues are seen in other constituencies. In Nizamabad, Congress's Thatiparthi Jeevan Reddy and an independent Tutukuru Jeevan Reddy will contest. Nagarkurnool has Congress's Mallu Ravi and the Alliance of Democratic Reforms Party's Amboju Ravi. Despite different party symbols, the presence of candidates with identical names could lead to voter confusion during the elections.

Important update on Union Home Minister  Amit Shah’s Doctored Video case:

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy says he doesn’t own the @INCTelangana handle and requests four weeks to respond, citing election responsibilities.

Revanth Reddy’s Lawyer Sowmya Gupta in reply to Delhi Police on behalf of Revanth Reddy said that The @INCTelangana X handle is not maintained by Revanth Reddy. He only maintains two X handles i.e, @revanth_anumula and @TelanganaCMO.

In another reply filed by Advocate M Ramachandra Reddy, Revanth Reddy asked for 4 weeks time to reply citing his election-related responsibilities.

Earlier Revanth was asked to present for investigation at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) office in New Delhi on May 1(Today) and to provide gadgets through which Revanth Reddy allegedly created/uploaded/tweeted the fake video of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The other Congress leaders who were served notices (Shiva Kumar Ambala, Asma Tasleem, Satish Manne, and Naveen Pettem) sought 15 days to Reply.

Speaking at a public meeting today, Revanth Reddy said, "I was asked to present myself at the Delhi Police station because I questioned why the constitution is being changed."

In the original video, from his speech on April 23, 2023, at Chevella, Amit Shah was seen saying, "If the BJP is voted to power, then the unconstitutional Muslim reservation will be ended in the state. This right belongs to Telangana's SC, ST, and OBC communities, and they will get this right. We will end Muslim reservations."

తెలంగాణలో ఇంటర్ ఫలితాల అనంతరం విద్యార్ధులు ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకొని చనిపోవడంపై ఏసీబీ డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్, ఐపీఎస్ సీవీ ఆనంద్ ఎమోషనల్ ట్వీట్ చేశారు. ఫలితాల కారణంగా 7 మంది ఇంటర్మీడియట్ విద్యార్ధుల చనిపోవడానికి కొన్ని కారణాలను చెబుతూ.. విద్యార్ధులు ఒత్తిడి గురి కాకుండా ఉండేందుకు 2001 నీరద రెడ్డి కమిటీ సిఫార్సులను ఎవరు ఆపుతున్నారంటూ ఓ నెటిజన్ చేసిన ట్వీట్ కు స్పందించిన ఆయన ఇది చదివితే నా గుండె తరుక్కుపోతుందని అన్నారు. ప్రతిష్టాత్మకమైన తల్లిదండ్రులు, విద్యా వ్యవస్థ యొక్క ఒత్తిడిలో 7 విలువైన జీవితాలు బలి అయ్యాయని ఆవేధన వ్యక్తం చేశారు.

It’s heart rending to read this . 7 precious lives sacrificed under the pressure being exerted by ambitious parents and the education system . Decades ago ,the cursed  corporate schooling introduced by Chaitanya- Narayana started reducing children to sheep . I appeal to parents not to feel that only these exams are the end of life . Life is too large and there is place for everyone on this planet as per their talents , which need not be maths and chemistry . Parents to be large hearted and allow the children to develop as well rounded personalities and not pressurise them to feel desperate and end their lives . Quite shameful and sad 😔

This is alarming!

Seven intermediate (plus 1 and plus 2) students in Telangana ended their lives, disappointed with their performance in exams after the release of intermediate results.

What's stopping governments from implementing the Neerada Reddy committee’s recommendations as corporate colleges are nothing less than “concentration camps”?

Crowded classrooms, CCTV cameras, wardens monitoring every move, weekly tests, state-wise ranking, and division into groups based on exam performance, — These are the things students go through in corporate colleges after paying lakhs of rupees.

Corporate colleges are solely focusing on IIT and NEET ranks. No breaks, No holidays, No language studies, or No sports activities. 

Campuses are often housed in apartments, neglecting students' holistic development and well-being.

In 2001, a committee chaired by Professor Neerada Reddy investigated student self-harm incidents and proposed recommendations that remain unimplemented to this day.

How can this be prevented according to the Neerada Reddy Committee?

-Reduction of study hours to eight.

-Setting up grievance boxes in junior colleges

-Scrapping weekly tests.

-Ban on advertisements.

-Leisure time for all students to play some sports.

-Regular counselling and leisure time to prevent students from taking extreme decisions.

The committee used the terms "concentration camps" and "hijacked students" to describe the deplorable conditions in which students were compelled to live.

Seven students from Mancherial, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Hyderabad, and Siddipet districts, among others, ended their lives on Wednesday, disappointed with their results in the intermediate examinations.

Your food controller allowed more pesticides in your spices

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is under fire for raising the limit of pesticides in spices and culinary herbs.

FSSAI issued orders on increasing pesticide levels in spices.

Professor D. Narasimha Reddy, a public policy expert, said, "This is the most unscientific order. Earlier, the maximum residue limit (MRL) was 0.01 mg/kg, and it has now been raised to 0.1 mg/kg, which is 10 times higher than what was previously specified."

Pesticide Action Network’s Dileep Kumar said that in their independent research, they found the presence of residues increased from 22.6% in 2018 to 35.9% in 2022

However, the FSSAI order stated that the Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee(CIBRIC) field trial data has been relied upon to arrive at MRLs.
