CBI Apprehends 10 Accused, Including NAAC Team Members and KLU Officials, in Bribery Case for Favourable NAAC Rating
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended 10 individuals, including NAAC Inspection Team members and office bearers of Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF) in Vaddeswaram, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in a case related to allegations of bribery for securing a favourable A++ NAAC accreditation rating.
Investigation and Arrests
CBI registered a case against KLEF office bearers and NAAC Inspection Team members, alleging that undue advantages were given to public servants to secure a favourable rating. Following this, CBI conducted searches at 20 locations across India, including Chennai, Bangalore, Vijayawada, Palamu, Sambalpur, Bhopal, Bilaspur, Gautam Budh Nagar, and New Delhi.
During the operation, CBI recovered cash, gold, laptops, mobile phones, and other incriminating materials, allegedly provided as bribes to influence the accreditation process. The total recovered items include:
•₹37 lakh (approximate) in cash
•6 Lenovo laptops
•One iPhone 16 Pro mobile phone
•One gold coin
•American Tourister trolley bags

Ongoing Investigation
CBI has stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and further action may be taken based on the findings. The case has raised serious concerns about the credibility of the NAAC accreditation process and the integrity of educational institutions and their evaluation bodies.
