Operation Kagar Crushes Naxals, But Hyderabad Sees the Rise of Right-Wing Extremism

Even as security forces execute Operation Kagar, the largest crackdown on Left-wing extremism in Chhattisgarh, a different kind of radical force is taking shape much closer to home. In Hyderabad, a self-styled right-wing fundamentalist group, led by one Veera Raghav Reddy, is quietly assembling an armed force across districts and constituencies, raising alarming parallels to extremist organizations.

A Shadow Army in the Making

Under the banner of his organization Rama Rajyam, veer Raghav has been actively recruiting individuals, whom he calls Sainiks, and establishing a structured army-like network. His website, ramarajyam.net, serves as a recruitment hub where followers are urged to enroll. His YouTube channels display chilling footage of individuals taking oaths of allegiance—vowing to “kill or be killed”—a ritual eerily reminiscent of known terrorist organizations.

One of the most disturbing incidents linked to this growing radical force occurred recently when Chilkur Balaji Temple’s head priest, Rangarajan, was attacked. In his police complaint, the priest shockingly compared his attackers to Naxals, claiming they appeared to be a private militia operating under Raghav’s command. CCTV footage from the attack showed the assailants marching in disciplined formations, much like an organized paramilitary force.

How Did This Go Unchecked for Two Years?

His speeeches are inflammatory where he has systematically incited resentment against Police and Judiciary and asked religious to take law into their hands.
Despite operating in the open for the past two years across Telugu states, no law enforcement agency has taken significant action against Reddy or his group. His provocative speeches, open threats, and militant-like gatherings have raised serious concerns about unchecked radicalization.

Political Reactions and Condemnation

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly condemned the attack on the priest, distancing itself from Veer Raghav’s(a native of Anaparthy in AP) group. Several political parties, including the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Jana Sena, have also denounced the violence, warning against the dangers of extremist ideologies infiltrating society.

With Hyderabad witnessing the rise of an organized right-wing militia even as security forces dismantle Naxal networks just a few hundred kilometers away, the big question remains: Why has there been no crackdown on this dangerous new force?
