Telangana Father Mourns Daughter Who Died in Delhi IAS Coaching Centre Flood
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Secunderabad, Telangana, is grappling with the devastating loss of his eldest daughter, Tanya Soni, a highly motivated UPSC aspirant. Tanya was one of three students who tragically died on Saturday after being trapped in the flooded basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar, Central Delhi, when a drain burst during heavy rain.
Tanya, along with Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh and Nivin Dalwin from Kerala, had been attending coaching classes in Delhi, chasing their dreams of becoming IAS officers. The news of the incident sent shockwaves through the families of the victims.
Vijay Kumar, who works with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and resides in Mancherial, was on a train to Lucknow with his wife and another daughter when they received the heartbreaking news of Tanya’s death. They immediately deboarded the train at Nagpur and flew to New Delhi.
“I have no words to express how I feel. She was my eldest, she had big dreams and was highly motivated. We are troubled thinking about the way she died. We are devastated… Don’t know what to do,” Vijay Kumar said.
Vijay umar is a deputy general manager in the Srirampur area. He described Tanya as diligent and focused, noting that she graduated from Delhi University and had been dedicated to her UPSC preparations, calling home daily to discuss her progress.
