HYDRAA Commissioner Warns

HYDRAA Commissioner Warns Against Extortion by Impersonators

The Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA), AV Ranganath, issued a stern warning on Wednesday, stating that strict action, including jail time, will be taken against anyone involved in extorting money by threatening to lodge complaints with HYDRAA.

According to the Commissioner, some individuals are posing as social activists and blackmailing builders by alleging that their constructions fall within Full Tank Level (FTL) or buffer zones of lake areas. These individuals claim to have close ties with senior officials and threaten to file complaints with HYDRAA if their demands are not met.

Ranganath noted that this extortion tactic is not only being used against builders but also households residing in high-rise structures. The impersonators demand money, promising to influence HYDRAA’s actions and prevent any enforcement against the properties in question.

The Commissioner urged the public not to fall prey to such tactics and advised builders, companies, and households to report any demands for money to the police, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), or HYDRAA. He emphasized that anyone found guilty of such extortion would face legal consequences.

Ranganath also called on citizens to be vigilant and not to believe those who falsely claim they can influence HYDRAA’s operations.
