HYDRAA Launches Demolition Drive at Three Key Locations
In a continuing effort to clear illegal structures, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has launched a series of demolitions across Hyderabad and its surrounding districts. The latest operations target encroachments in the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of ponds in Madhapur, Dundigal, and Ameenpur.
In Madhapur, HYDRAA officials began demolishing large sheds and buildings constructed within the FTL of Sunnam Cheruvu , which spans 26 acres. Encroachments in survey numbers 12, 13, 14, and 16, where squatters had set up businesses, were cleared with the support of local authorities. The demolition took place amid heavy security and the presence of municipal and revenue officials.
In Dundigal, HYDRAA continued its crackdown on illegal villas built in violation of regulations at Mallampet’s Katwa Lake. A major demolition was carried out at a villa belonging to Lakshmi Srinivasa Constructions on Sunday morning, with a significant police force deployed to maintain order.
Simultaneously, HYDRAA began demolishing illegal structures in HMT Colony and Vaninagar, under the -Ameenpur Municipality in Sangareddy District. The demolitions, carried out with the assistance of revenue and municipal officials, are part of HYDRAA’s ongoing campaign to reclaim pond and lake lands from illegal occupiers.
These operations follow a series of complaints by local residents and environmental activists, prompting HYDRAA to take swift action against the violators.
