Hyderabad: Drab wall comes alive with dash of colour
Hyderabad: A drive along this road stretch till recently used to be a rather dreary affair. But not so any more.
The drab and dull wall along the Kalyan Nagar bus stop on Vengal Rao Nagar road, which never got a second look from the passers-by, recently got a beautiful makeover.
Decorated with amazing terracotta paintings and 3-D images the wall is certainly attracting many people.
A total of 30 people — including the employees of multinational company, CGI, along with GHMC officers, NGO coordinators and Art Exotica — took up the task of adding a dash of colour to the wall and making it appealing and attractive with a touch of aesthetics, over the weekend.
Interestingly, not just the CGI employees, but their family members, especially children, took part in the beautification of this spot very enthusiastically. Seeing the buzz around the area, several commuters and early morning walkers also picked up the paint buckets and started helping the volunteers — making the event a huge success.
Sharing that every citizen can contribute towards making tge city beautiful by participating in such events, Kavitha Natarajan, an employee of CGI Company, said, “Beautifying public spaces is a wonderful thing. It’s even more exciting when we have communities participating and making it even more aesthetic and enriching. A simple exercise such as cleaning and painting wall murals brings aesthetic value to road users and commuters. It is easy to crib about the lack of beauty or soiled public spaces; however, it is every citizen’s responsibility to do something about it.”
Within a period of three hours, the road has completely transformed, thanks to the volunteers who took part in the activity, in collaboration with Hyderabad based NGO – Bhumi.
