BRS Government Accused of Using Anti-Terror Agency to Track Political Opponents During Kamareddy Polls
In a startling revelation, Additional DCP Tirupatanna, arrested in the phone-tapping case, has confessed that the BRS government deployed counter-intelligence agents to track Kondal Reddy, brother of then Congress President and current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, during the Kamareddy polls.
Tirupatanna's confession statement, now public, indicates that a specialized WhatsApp group was formed, comprising members of the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), focused on anti-Naxal operations, and the Counter Intelligence (CI) cell. This group was tasked with monitoring Kondal Reddy’s activities under the guise of ensuring electoral integrity.
Furthermore, a separate WhatsApp group named "Poll 2023" was established to scrutinize the financial movements of the funders of the Congress party. Tirupatanna detailed operations in which significant sums of money were seized from supporters of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in Khammam, and a similar operation occurred in Jadcherla and Madhapur.
