About Balagopal
A tireless fighter for justice for three decades, Balagopal inspired an entire generation to rights activism, leading by example. An eloquent speaker, original political thinker and writer, his rich analyses of various contemporary and historical issues are well known both within Telangana, AP and outside. He was a man of rare courage and integrity who espoused a politics that was deeply ethical. He entered the legal profession in 1996 and defended cases of adivasis, women, dalits and labourers creating spaces for those who could not otherwise access justice in the courts.
Balagopal was founder-member of the Human Rights Forum (HRF) and its general secretary for four years, from 2005 to 2009.  A champion of the oppressed, he was a source of enormous moral strength to all democratic struggles. He relentlessly strove to build a vibrant, broad-based and truly independent human rights movement.
HRF invites all to the meet to remember this human rights colossus.
